A Salon with Guest Artist Cécile McLorin Salvant
In conjunction with the exhibition Joe Overstreet: Taking Flight
Cécile McLorin Salvant is a vocalist, composer and visual artist, with three consecutive Grammy Awards for Best Jazz Vocal Album and a 2020 MacArthur Fellowship. Spanning genres and mediums, Salvant’s artistic practice has few boundaries. In addition to her music, McLorin Salvant is known for her large-scale textile drawings. In April, at the invitation of DACAMERA and The Menil Collection, McLorin Salvant will be in residence at the museum, with a particular focus on the exhibition of work by abstract painter Joe Overstreet. Join Cécile McLorin Salvant, DACAMERA Artistic Director Sarah Rothenberg and The Menil Collection’s Associate Curator of Modern Art Natalie Dupêcher for this art and music salon of conversation and informal performance.
